Queasy about heights?

The top down falls view is not for those that are queasy about heights, especially since this falls is considerably higher than Niagara. The rainbow is real by the way, created by the mist.

This is quite a nice shot tegan and I love the way you can see the rainbow through the mist. I'm curious though, the edges of the photograph seem 'filtered', are they? If so I'd be curious to see what the unfilterd shot looks like. In particular, the green foliage on the left side, to my eye, seems a bit over filtered.

Well, the green foliage you see is actually moss toward the left and the colour is due to it constantly being wet. After dropping a lens while standing on the edge of a canyon and catching it, but almost losing my balance....I have learned to avoid messing around with changing lenses or adding filters when I am up high. So, no it is not filtered. I did however in postprocessing selectively brighten dark areas and took out two cables crossing directly through the image.

So I'm at a loss here tegan, I like this shot but to my eye it looks photshopped big time. The large rock on the lower right, and the rock formation on the left near the rainbow look solarized or filtered in a funky way, as does the moss...maybe it's oversaturation then.

Well, I checked the EXIF and photo info. and discovered to my surprise that this was not one of my recent shots but one from 3 years ago with a little pocket digital and I did not buy any "funky filters" until last year. I have not found the original yet since one of my computers crashed, along with an external hard drive that I was using for backup.

I did notice a few things when looking at other shots that I took at that location. Down in the left corner, what you are looking at are logs and they are that colour. The moss and leaves in another section are that bright green from the water and that is very common in eastern Canada and the maritimes due to rain and humidity from the ocean as well. The rock throughout many of these areas contains iron oxide too, so it is not always the typical grey colour of northern Ontario.

By the way, just in general terms, saturation tends to create chroma noise, so I usually avoid it. Slightly adjusting exposure in RAW or colour temperature can bring back dead looking colours to their natural look.
