Canada Post thefts halt Lens Rentals Canada

I'd bet hard it's an employee or related contractor. In my experience, theft is rampant in places where it's difficult to get fired.

A friend of mine shops on Amazon a fair bit and he called when something he bought didn't show up. Amazon said, "Oh, you are using that carrier. Yeah, stuff just goes missing there. No problem, we'll send you another one." :( Pretty sad that Canada Post is known for such horrible service.
