Iguanasan can you tell me the original filesize of the image you uploaded directly?

I NEVER have this problem - but i always upload images less than 150k

That is an excellent idea! You could put a regular sized image on Photography.ca and a link to a larger one of flickr....many thanks for thinking of promoting the site as well

In general, if I have to jump through hoops just to see and comment on an image, I'm less likely to, unless it's pretty damn spectacular!
Actually, I kind of agree with you. The problem is that everyone has different "browser window furniture". I have been using Google Chrome recently and I have tons of screen room so I tend to forget that others do not. The images I posted with the exception of the Flickr example which was a little larger, fit on my 15" laptop screen.

I also would prefer an image size that fits completely within the screen so, as you say, you can more easily judge composition. But, I also want an image that's large enough to appreciate. A 9MP or 12MP image shrunk down to 400 or 500 pixels loses a lot of detail.

    Regards, Ig

Exactly - hence why I try to go for about 600px vertical, which should pretty much work for everybody.

If my picture was significantly detailed to warrant something bigger, then I'd also inclide a link to a higher res version for the folks that would want to see it.
