I'm choosing shot two for the excellent comp and perfect DOF for the car. The swooping road leads us nicely to the car and then away again as if wondering where the car might go. I might lift those mid levels a tad.

Nice shooting and processing throughout though in this set. The group shot is well also ... nice even light considering just the speedlight as extra light source.

Thanks! I actually brought the mid tones up, based on your comment from last time. Still need to work on that.

I could not wait until the next batch was finished. I took this last night and had to post it.

So far, I think this is the best shot I have taken to date.

    Day 20 / 365 - December 20th, 2012

I love this shot, and had a great time shooting it with Haley. The flashlight was so heavy she was struggling to hold it up. We kept having to switch between her right and left hand. I'm also goign to give B&W a try with this image. Shot with a 50mm 1.4. at ISO 1100.

The last one is very cute! Lucky you to have a model that is into the project as well!

    Day 21 / 365 - December 21st, 2012

This is a submission for December's assignment. Keeping with my portrait theme this week, I figured I give this a go. This is my first composite, which was pretty fun to do, even though the background is simply a white layer. When I took the shot of Haley last night. I asked her for a mischievous look and I got a GREAT expression.

    Day 22 / 365 - December 22nd, 2012

Another staged shot. This time of my eldest. She looks so old in this shot. Growing up too quickly.

    Day 23 / 365 - December 23rd, 2012

After a very action packed tiring sledding adventure, I took my girls to one of their favourite hangouts. Tim Hortons. This shot is semi staged. I keep wanting to put the subject in the middle of the frame. I feel her arms would have had the symmetry and leading lines to pull it off. In the end I decided to keep her a bit off centre. Was shot with a 70-200.

I'm really enjoying focusing on portrait shots.

    Day 24 / 265 - December 24th, 2012

My first attempt at a high key portrait. I was unsure exactly how to process it. My initial attempts simply looked like a blown out exposure. I settled here for an in-between process. I did a similar shot a few days ago. The big difference is that this was a shot blowing out the background and the shot on day 21 was a composite.

    Day 25 / 365 - December 25th, 2012

Here is an attempt at a low key shot. My wife, Cara makes her first appearance to the project. I found this shot much harder to get right then the high key shot of yesterday. Out of the camera the light looked so harsh. I simply hand held the flash at a arms length to the left and triggered it with the commander mode on the Nikon. I would have liked to get a bit of white showing on the left part or her left eye. All in all, it is just okay

In order to smooth the light I went with a very de-saturated PP. I actually added in some grain to help. I think a grid modifier would help a lot.

    Later guys
