Default Photography magazines, which do you read, if any

I still get Pop photo (not much longer) and American Photo. I get ideas and alerts to new equipment, but they really do not do much for me anymore. I am interested in what others are reading these days, if any and what keeps you reading a particular title. For inspiration, I look at art books (painting, sculpture, etc), 500px and 1x. Techniques I got to Kelby, McNally, the Strobist and a few others. Links to favs would be appreciated.

I like magazines that are not from north america. They have more adds in them for the cost. As far as what I look at on line 500px and Flickr sometimes dpreview. I really like pod casts like twip and twit.

Yeah, the ads really do get in the way. What titles outside of NA would you recommend? I also listen to podcasts, "The Candid Frame", Martin Bailey, Folio, TWIP (not so much, I find Fredrick a tad unnecessarily cheery), TWIT, TWICH, Marko's.

I used to love photo magazines but since the internet I eventually almost stopped buying magazines at all. I spend a good part of my time reading, searching and looking at photos. I also found with magazines I was going through them quickly and the ones with great photos I would try to leave on top so I could peruse it a later time again and then i would forget it. I also never had subscriptions I only went and perused through them and but the ones I liked with at times were many.

After I while there were just stack and stacks of magazines so gave them all away and just do it all online now. Still have this one in pristine condition, LIFE 75 Years: The Very Best of LIFE (hardcover) and some other ones I kept (I only remember that one I was looking through it this AM). I would have loved to keep them but to box them and put them away just did not seem right I so I gave them to people who were looking for a couple each to people who really wanted and tried to give to people who will appreciate them. When I do pick on these days it is a I gotta have that one, I still look just don't purchase like I once did but sometimes the photos are so compelling or the topic of deep interest I just have to grab a copy. I prefer magazines to the net though.

I got tired of the American magazines that were primarily ads and the Canadian ones I found too basic and narrow in scope. I spend a huge amount of time on the internet and do find 90% of what I want there. I have a subscription to Photoshop Elements Techniques that gives me access to related forums, information and training. I also regularly get two British publications, Digital Camera World and PhotoPlus. Both are very good and in my opinion present a more advanced and higher quality of information than the North American publications I read off and on for years. The Brit's also have a couple of others I've seen but one is $15.00 which for me is rather high for a magazine and a new one called N Photo that deals entirely with Nikon gear and software. Although they say the N Photo is not associated with Nikon as a company I found it to be one bug ad. Give the first two a try though and I'm sure you'll be please. Right now both come with a video disc attached which covers different things every month.

I like Photo Life from Canada.
I too prefer European photo mags when I'm browsing mags in a bookstore.

I used to read a few magazines occasionally but I never had anything I read regularly. Right now I'm a "paper is dead" kinda guy for that kind of stuff anyway. I get all my information online these days. Here's a bunch of the stuff I follow... in no real particular order.

I have subscriptions to Lenswork and Black & White Magazine. Both are fine publications that never fail to inspire. The Candid Frame is a great podcast. I particularly like his way of finding artist, many without formal training, to interview that made the personal decision to jump into photography with both feet when there was that doubt about their becoming successful. How they overcame and what kept them motivated. It too, is very inspirational.

Just saw a free trial offer for B&W magazine and there are some good online discounts for subscriptions. There is also an online coupon for Photo Technique. Yes, it has ads, but I have found some great unique articles and images in it.

Love the Candid Frame as well, thanks for the reminder, BareFoot. I like just about any British publication. They more have a tendency to go deeper into the articles and have less meaningless gloss than some American magazines.
