I was listening to a podcast where they had a challenge to go out and shoot up to a roll of film and use no metering. They simply used the sunny 16 rule as a basis to determine the exposure. (Mind you they did use film which has a larger latitude than digital)
This seems like an interesting exercise to understand lighting and exposure. So I'm going to try this assignment for myself. Go out and take maybe 20-30 pictures. Shoot in manual and not use the LCD preview to see how the exposre went after shooting the picture. Wait until I get back to see the results. Analyze the pictures and exif data to see how well I did and repeat until I can get most pictures right.
Not sure if this is suitable as an official assignment, but maybe an unofficial one. What do you think Marko?
