    Default Shadow

I would like to know if I could use PS to eliminate the shadow generated by my camera's flash used as a fill light? Would it be a good idea to use an external flash with an attached diffuser to avoid shadows? There were many visitors therefore I couldn't use a tripod.

This is another great capture as it is. Ya know, I did not even notice the shadows of the antennae and wings as being something annoying. Comes with the light ... if you use a flash off camera, you definetly can adjust the amount of back/side/top light you get. You can also use a reflector to 'bounce' the light around a bit. But in a crowded place this may not work too well

hi light50, it should be a fairly quick job to clone out the shadows in PS.

Thank you Matt K. for the advice, I will try to remember it next time I am in a similar situation. Richard, Marko I know now that is possible...I am starting to realize that pp can sometimes be as important as taking the photo....???

Well, PP can definitely be your friend and it's detail work that can really make an image pop but ideally you make your adjustments before you take the image, in camera, and then you don't have any PP to worry about.

A diffuser for the flash probably would have helped here. I have also found that adjusting the flash exposure compensation, even if the flash is an on-camera flash, can help mitigate issues with deep shadows.
