How to make only the floor change

Hi,

I am working on a website for our company, and I wanted to know, how to certain companies edit a picture so that only the floor changes. Everything else stays the same. Including shadows, how do they do that?

I'm not 100% sure what you are referring to, but maybe they extract the main subject from the background using a program like photoshop. Then they can choose whatever bkgd. they want.
