Default All The High Quality Inkjet Printers

My Epson 4000PE died a couple of days ago and I'm in the market for a new printer. I'm looking at 2: Canon iPrograf 6450 (24") and the Epson 4900 (17"). My basic question is: are these the only printer brands out there? I know HP makes printers but I've seen the output... I see comments that reference serious faults in both Epson and Canon and other similar printers. The replacement heads on the Epson cost as much as the printer. Why are they getting by with this? Several reliable industry sources say the Canon is very inconsistent.

I print 2-3 but sometimes as many as 12 prints a day, say 5 days a week. I would suspect that will keep the nozzles open on any printer but there's vacation. I suppose I can get an alternate set of cartridges and inject cleaning fluid before departure... if that will work.

So, are you guys having similar thoughts about these printers and are there alternatives I just haven't found?

I also have an Epson 3880. I looked at the 4900 but, man, it's a huge beast and I don't have enough space for it. I never even considered a Canon printer and I think the answer to your question is that Epson is the only brand out there. I tend to print in batches, maybe once every 6 weeks or so. I have had a nozzle clog, but it was quickly fixed with the included software utility. I've read a lot about piezography and Cone inks Welcome to InkjetMall! . Although I haven't tried them, I bet they are as good as advertised.
