Y'know, to my eye it kinda works. If you could find some way for the WHITES to not be so WHITE, maybe bring out the eyebrows a bit, you could have an artistic all curves and shadows and planes of the face kind of shot. I'm sure there's a name for the styles and/or techniques that would produce something like that. I just don't know them, or how to go about the processing for it.

Sorry I can't give you more than food for thought.

Kat this Is a pretty good as it is but it could do with some tweaking This image is all about the eyes. I would suggest concentrating on the eyes. So all corrections should be local to the eyes. The darkest part of the eyes are dark grey, try driving them to black, high key works best if there is some black in it. Second the eyes are not tack sharp do a selective sharpening on the eyes. Finally multiple catch lights are not all that attractive try eliminating all but one of them in Photoshop, that is one per eye of course.
If you like my images I am very happy but please don’t nominate them.

Thank you! I've tried to get it to one..and not doing to well at it. I will have to keep that in mind when I am shooting from now on..just make sure to look!

Yah..the focus just missed the eyes..got the lash on the upper eye. Grr..and of course..she was gone like a light after a shot.

    I will keep at it!

    Thanks

I really like this too kat! - Nice! I definitely agree with Grant's suggestion about deeper blacks in the eyes. I also think the crop seems a bit off on the right side giving a bit of a conic look to the head. I'd likely crop this on the right side about 1 inch to the right of the eyebrow.

    Default Beautiful

I'm a relative newbie, but I think the shot is really beautiful and was improved by the latest adjustments you made. Could I ask how it was taken?

Sure. I used a chair and placed it in front of the window (basement window so slightly below). Had her place both arms facing one direction (sitting backwards on the chair) and rest her head. Shot it at about 2 feet away (haha..that may be way off as I'm not good with estimating distance)

    Aperture Priority
F2.2 ISO 400 1/250s Flash did go of. -1 flash comp

It came out very soft, bright but no highlights. I knew soon as I saw it uploaded I was going bw, although the color is cute. But not as effective as the bw IMO.

    Hope that helps. Thanks.
