2 Cute Dogs

Heres a couple shots I took that I thought turned out pretty good. These were taken kind of as 'snapshots' or 'candids', as I didn't pose or work with the dogs at all. The one of Roxie (my chihuahua) would of course be better if she were looking at me, but the rest of it I liked. The handsome man called Weiner looks best in blue.

in the first shot i think i would like to see the green a little sharper thats just my opinion tho

The eyes eyes eyes...they NEED to be sharp. They should be the sharpest element in the photograph 99% of the time.

for me i'd get closer on both...

shot 1 doesn't seem sharp enough... not sure if it's from low aperture or a missed focus... the 18-200 is sharpest between f9 and f11.... if you are looking for deep dof and crisp images corner to corner use aperture priority and park that puppy in f9...

on shot 2 once it's determined the front paws won't be included in the shot I would go tight tight on the face... like tight on the face..

i find dogs/pets to the best training tool... they move a lot.. their fur is excellent for measuring sharpness.... and they are cute to boot....

Further to that which is recommended above, I would suggest a crop of #1 to move the dog into the left-hand third of the image

I think that the saturation should be higher in shot 1 to bring out the green a bit more...

ok - thanks for the feedback everyone...

for shot #1 - i had pumped up the volume on the green already, and thought that it might be over-saturated if i did it any more - i cropped it and boosted the green though (i had no idea what a "31 crop" was - lol!)

for shot #2 i cropped nice & tight like you suggested travis, and like the effect. thanks for the tip. i also sharpened the crap outta them eyes (which i had done previously too, though obviously not enough) may have overdone it, but oh well...

here ya go!
