Default Trying not to be afraid

I'm not looking for critique of the pictures so much as some assurance that I'm stepping in the right direction. I'm trying to allow the results of some of my flower pictures to be bright, because they were. These were really white, especially when the sun was out. The daffodils I took (see here) were really that bright a yellow. Am I sticking my big toe far enough in the water?

Shots 1 and 3 might be ok to cop a bit more brightening without loosing detail. Apart from that they all look very good to me.
I calibrated my monitor about 1 hr ago so hopefully that's a good thing

Thanks, everyone. This tells me I'm on the right track.

MA, yes, it helps to know you calibrated your monitor recently. That tells me that what I see on mine is reasonably close, if not calibrated. I'll try fiddling with the 2 you mentioned later this week (operative word being "try").

    Thanks again, everyone.
