Red Canyon

Well I haven't been around in a while, probably because I haven't taken many pictures. Well I just got back from Hawaii, and I think this was my best shot. It's been panoramically stiched in my camera, and photoshopped to get rid of the haze. This was a huge canyon, and was absolutely breathtaking.

This is quite a nice shot.
Haze shots are hard because they reduce the contrast and details big time. This is the type of shot that a master printer would spend a long time perfecting.

To my eye the sharpest and liveliest element in the shot is the green bush on the left and I'm not sure it should be. The top edge of the shot is also a bit 'weak' and would definitely benefit from a more defined edge by burning in even more. Then I'd stick a border all around.

Still even with those comments, this shot is striking and must have been a thrill to witness live.

I took some shots of the Grand canyon last year and also encountered haze issues. Although I am fairly happy with the results NOTHING can reproduce the incredible feeling of witnessing a masterpiece with your eyes. And how could it really? a picture is 2d and being there in all it's splendour is 3d.

definitely a grand picture, and you were in Hawaii and I wasn't so you win.
The only people who are going to pick on this picture are people on the photo forum and people who are jealous that they were not there.
So That being said, I am both,
The onboard stitching leaves a little to be desired, the first thing I noticed was the subtle banding, and other assorted anomalies that come from less than perfect stitching.

Yeah you're right, there's a pretty visible line on the left 1/3 going all the way across.

It was pretty hard to get any shot without haze anywhere in Hawaii. The shot of the canyon was 4000ft up, and you were looking for miles. That is only a Kodak camera too, nothing fancy.
