Default My First Pictures with D-SLR

    Hi guys !
This are my fist photo taken with my camera. I have a lot to learn, and I'm open to any critiques and suggestions.
I have to make them smaller, and after I'll upload 1-2 more.

    Thank you,

Very nice going for your first outing with it. Just keep shooting and practicing and whenever you can try and bring your camera with you, the more you use it the better you will be. Did you shoot those in the Auto or Manual mode?

Manual mode. I set up the ISO and WB. The rest of settings I'm still learning, and get used to this camera and its menu.

    Thanx for the "critiques".

Sorry about the weird uploading of different pix - we changed servers recently and during the transfer something must have gone wonky. Should be fixed now though.

I really like shot 1 here. Nice composition and exposure. It has a good feel to it.

I find shot 2 a bit awkward though I think i understand the intent. I 'think' you were trying to show a small house in the middle of the vastness and it almost works well. Compositionally I feel the shot would be stronger if the house were not so central. I should be off to one side or the other a bit more. maybe there is also a bit too much sky. Also you see how that brightest part of the photo is the sky? You have to ask yourself WHERE do i want the viewer's eye to look, because it NATURALLY goes to the brightest part of the scene. I would therefore darken the sky a bit more and brighten the house so that it is more prominent.

    Hope that helps!

For the shot with the house on the lake I didn't have the right angle. I was trying but because of the fence and other obstacles, and yes you guess well my intention.
I couldn't see the mistake regarding the sky.

    Thank you for the advices.
