These are really interesting. I'm guessing they were created with the emboss filter in photoshop and they have an interesting effect.

There is something going on though on the left side of both photos. It looks like the reflection from flash, and since these are digitized you could get rid of it if you want to.

Thank you...it is the flash. Do you think eliminating that would improve it? The theme is "reclaiming one's body at 50."

I think Gibbon's comments are correct.

I too find the flash on the left side distracting and I would eliminate it.
The eye has a tendency to go toward the lightest part of most pictures.

Your last image is the best one in my opinion. - very nice effect!
