Wadsworth Falls

I shot this one right around noon, so the light was really harsh on the water. Of the shots that I took that day, this was the only one that was remotely decent. I'm not sure if I like it or hate it. Any thoughts?

the subject is a good one and I like how you captured the water flow in the falls. However the lens flare is ruining the shot. the foreground is not adding to it either, but that could be because of the harsh light.

Would it be possible to go back at a different time of day and take it again?

I actually only live a few minutes away from this spot, and have photographed it before, so getting there is no problem. I sort of felt the same way about the lens flare ruining it. I sort of liked the little rainbow effect from the mist and sun--but overall just sort of blah.

The 1st shot is very interesting. That's some serious but cool flare you got happening!
Shame it steals the contrast and darkens the falls so much. In the right context it might be a worthy shot but mostly I guess shots like your 2nd shot here are far better.

That 2nd shot is a beaut! I'm betting you can take lots of interesting shots and angles there. Does it freeze over during the winter?

Love the light rays in #1 and the whole image of #2! You nailed the movement in the water.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm looking forward to getting some shots here in the winter. If it gets cold enough the whole thing will freeze over.

Yep shot 2 is a winner. The flare in shot 1 could be cool, but the whole shot lacks contrast.

Thanks! The second one was actually one of the first shots I remember taking after I began learning how to actually use a DSLR (without putting it on the Automatic setting and using it like a glorified point and shoot).
