Reflection

Took this shot on a hike a few weeks back. Just curious what people think of this...and why.

Love the colors! Interesting photo. Makes your eyes work.

The more I look at it the more my eye goes to that little tan thing half way up center left. I know without the suttle rocks/stick that it is a reflection from the water but at the same token I find them to distract a little.

I think it's a great image to use as an aid (I don't know how to put this very well). EI, my hubby would use it as a faint image on a part of a web site but for me, it isn't an image I'd put on my wall.

I like it a lot and for me it would be a wall hanger. Love the colors and how it looks abstract. I only have two things I would change. I would rotate it 180. My eyes see it was upside down.. Maybe it just me. There is a white sliver that my eye keeps going too.

It does have nice color but if you didn't say that it was a reflection I wouldn't be too sure of what the picture was of......maybe a little less blur?

It is quite painterly in an impressionistic way and my first idea was the same as scorpio e to rotate it. I like the colors and the blur is not bothersome. The little white and brown spots look like dabs of paint actually. My painter friend would probably say that a painter would add that sort of thing to force the viewer to look around the painting. Plus I like that the colors do not become muddy at all.

Thanks very much for the comments everyone. This is one of those images that make me question the concept of focal point and the concept of telling a story. At least for me, it's 100X harder to critique my own image because I'm too 'close' to it and this image in particular because it's abstract.

For me I guess the "story" is simply about colour...it's a very abstract (lol) story. Normally I look for more concrete stories. And then focal point..normally I'm looking for 1 or 2 clear focal points...but in this image I see no clear focal point....and yet when I saw this scene I smiled because I found it beautiful.

That rotate comment was way cool Scorpio....he's the rotated version with a hint of cloning. Thx again! Marko

The rotate works well and the hint of cloning. It flows much better for me! Yup..it's like a painting!

Nothing better than looking at an image and past memories flood through your head!

I like either version. It seems to fit very well the definition of two of the three recognized forms of landscape photography as I can't decide if it is entirely abstract or impressionistic. My head hurts a bit too much to make decisions today, but viewing this beautiful shot does seem to soothe the self inflicted pain a little. Thanks.

I prefer the second shot to the first. In the first one, I was kinda feeling the slight urge a bit to turn my head to the side to view it upside down....This
2nd shot just rocks IMO!

Wicked colouring with an impressionistic feel to it!
