Nice subtle rendering of the Orton effect, I think however the image is being let down by the reflection and blown sky. You really needed both a polarizer (to eliminate the surface reflections) and G-ND (toprevent the blown sky) in the set-up of this image. That would have taken this one from nice to excellent.

oh dear. I think I can get a polarizer for my camera, I'll have to check. its somewhere between a SLR and a point and shoot. Actually it's a high-er end P&S. I'll confess that I have no idea what a G-ND is.

    thanks tirediron.

G-ND = Graduated neutral density. You can indeed get CPOLs and G-NDs for your camera.

    Next thing I purchase is a G-ND! Can't wait! You'll find a big difference!

I like your composition. The colors also are nice. I agree that CP and G-ND filters could really improve the sky color and the reflections in the water.

Polarizer an G-ND filters are great but you have to see the effect as you make your adjustments. If your camera is not a SLR you will have to see it on your camera monitor.
