D90 extreme crop. first applied HDR to single jpg then threw some "Orton" at the photomatix result.

It may be a little bright around the edges on the left, but it's a fabulous image.
I'm a bit puzzled by the reference to a D90. New camera?

Thanks BF. D90 replaced the Oly E-3 as I decided to go full on Nikon after getting the D700. I use the d90 for nature work now as it gets 450mm from the 70-300mm lens.

I love my D90, but I'll have a 700 within the next month or so.

Nothing wrong with the Olympus system in good light especially for nature work. The four thirds system only falls down in the high ISO range with ISO 1250 being about as high as one can comfortably go before noise and banding is an issue, banding being a real problem...At least it was for me. The four thirds sensor gave me 600mm on the long end of the Zuiko 70-300mm lens, to get that from my d700 is going to cost seven grand! It's a real good thing that outside of photography I have no life

this image stopped me in my tracks. :cry-an: very personal reasons for it too. my late husband loved the oak tree and acorns. on his tomb stone's engraving is similar to your photo - he is buried in oakdale memorial cemetery under a giant oak tree. when i go visit him, i brush aside the very things this image has in it.
