Dragonfly HDR

This is a discussion on Dragonfly HDR within the Critiques forums, part of the Photography & Fine art photography category; I thought I would try some HDR on this to see what the wings would look like...thoughts? It is done ...

    Default Dragonfly HDR

    I thought I would try some HDR on this to see what the wings would look like...thoughts? It is done with 2 separate images at +1/-1.

    The wings are definately cool looking. I have a hard time getting past the highlights on the branch.

    Thanks...yeah I thought the branch turned out a bit bright on this...I really had to monkey around with the settings to get the wings the way I want but the result is the branch is too bright and I can't seem to get it much better without giving something else up.

    Can you make two layers, one being an original stick and "mask layer" the original stick in? MA..you're the pro at it..explain my thoughts!

    The effect on the wings is very nice. The branch is a distraction though. Otherwise, I really like the colors and the background light is very cool looking.
