I think I see where you were trying to go with this but it is not working for me. Looks like it was shot high noon. A tough go for sure and your highlights are blown out. For me the wall in focus and the people out does not work either.
The leading wall into the scene is a little to centered.

My mistake has been seeking new landscapes. I should have been seeking new light.
Oddly enough- I took the photo around 6:30pm..
you are definitely right about the blown out areas. I took it in Raw so I can pull back the exposure and try to recover some detail.
thanks for the thoughts - very helpful to hear your opinions.

Agree on the blown hlights. The composition is nice enough but the overall scene and focal point isn't that intriguing imo...

What bugs me most is the fact that there is NOTHING where you focused, plus the woman in the background looks like a photographer carrying a backpack with a tripod, which tends me to think it is a photowalk.
The S curve of the wall is appealing and would lead the eye into the scene perfectly. However, once my eye gets there there's nothing to focus on. Having the people as the main subject would work better, the crisp detail in the wall isn't that interesting and doesn't hold my attention.
Great potential dmacneil.
