    Default Portraits

Unfortunately, Ive been working quite a bit lately so I have missed out on the topics here lately. My apologies on that one. In the meantime Ive been working on candid portraits of friends and family to keep busy. Im going to be having almost 80 8x12s printed in the next few days and was wondering about these. Keepers or No? Thanks in advance.

These are all for my own personal use so consider accordingly. The only one that would not be is the picture of the little girl. With Mothers Day coming up I thought it would make a nice gift, but am hesitant to do so.

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!

I'm not crazy about shot 1 but aside from that these look like decent candids to me. The girl has wicked good eyes and expression but they are soft.
    Hope that helps

Thanks Marko. Her eyes are amazing. It has been a little struggle to try and capture them. It is my cousin and she loves to flirt with me, but she turns her head so quickly its almost impossible to get them focused fast enough. I thoguht they were a little soft myself. It was at 135mm at f2.8, so it was kind of expected. It will probably still get printed though.

As poor of a portrait #1 may seem, I thought it turned out ok and captured the moment quite well.

    Thanks for the input.

Print them all up! I honestly believe that although some portraits are better than others that there is also a moment that goes behind them and that sometimes out does the photo!

I can't wait to get more prints done up, but it definatley hurts the wallet! I finally got my 16x20, 11x14 and 8x10 back last week. I am soo happy, just made me want to do up 50 16x20 for my walls!!! I tell you one thing I learnt though..I will never ever use Walmart for any printing. What a color difference, it is unreal!

Yes Kat, I am in complete understanding with you. One day I would like to eventually have a room where all four walls are covered in my prints from top to bottom. I have enough prints for one wall, another three to go.

The question is now, do I put them in frames or not? As nice as it is to look at pictures in frames, the glass between the print and the picture almost ruins it. It is so much better to look at a print without any obstruction, so Ive been thinking about getting a large foam board and attaching them to that. Then hanging that onto the wall. No seams, no space between images, just 4 huge 16x14x9 walls full of images.

    I personally HATE frames.

Depends on what you are looking for. You can always get your photo attached to board. I saw some frames that I thought were neat that had the polorizing effect. Canvas is a nice way to go too, but pretty expensive, I did it a couple of times but as presents to people.

I use frames, have the same one for every photo. It really makes them tie together. Once we get into the new house and get colors on the wall, I got some big plans! I can't wait!

Do some researching, at most developing stores (the good ones) they have everything you can think of that would help you out on this. From the sounds of it, having them developed and on board would be the way to go!
