This is a discussion on Red Pear transform within the Critiques forums, part of the Photography & Fine art photography category; Here is the original photo of a red pear on a mirror: Next I put it in Topaz Adjust: Then ...
these are cool, but my favorite is the first one.
nice work
I prefer the second one because of the better looking complexion.
I like the composition Raiven. I might have to get a mirror for some still lifes.
I agree with Bambi and Moin that the first one is the better overall shot as the richer background is more appealing to me. The 2nd one has some more white patches on the pear, and the 3rd one has lost detail. Actually in isolation the 3rd one looks good, it is only when you compare it the the original you notice the lost detail.
I also notice a little softness in the reflected pear. This may be partly due to imperfections in the mirror. It occurs to me though that you may need to increase DOF as the pear in the reflection probably requires double the focal length of the actual pear....I think??

Yup, if memory serves, Antz is correct about that. Personally, I like it this way though. I also like the first shot the best.It occurs to me though that you may need to increase DOF as the pear in the reflection probably requires double the focal length of the actual pear....I think??

Photography is more than just taking a picture and freezing the action, or leaving the shutter open. It is more than orchestrating the image with the stroke of a brush. Its the realization and explanation that reality is an isolated experience in which only a specific individual can comprehend during any given time period. - Your Truly!
