I like the lighting on this one and the focus seem really tight. I think I might be tempted to crop the lower portion of this image bringing the bottom up to where the leaves start to get busy and maybe get rid of the lone stick hanging out of the center top. The focus is really good, was this a tripod shot?
PS Maybe the crop is a bad idea, I tried it and it seemed somehow to take away from the "lone jewel" theme, but taking out the stick was all good

Did you consider moving in much closer and using the macro function? That is if you are using digital.

These are REALLY hard shots to do well because of the distracting elements that always seem to appear.
Actually, for THIS shot I would crop it severely. I would crop just below the stem at the top of the image, just below the two leaves in sunlight whose tips are almost touching and a good inch or two on the left side.
That IS severe cropping for sure (perhaps 75%). For methough, it strengthens the image. There is just way way too much shadow in this shot for my taste the way it is now.
