I very much like the lighting in this shot and and like the shot in general.
In terms of improving the shot - The tulip is way too centered for me. Curving or angling the stem would have improved the composition here IMO. There are some bright areas both to the left of and behind the flower that could also use some burning in. In terms of the selective colouring, it looks quite good but I may have gone just a bit paler on the colour.

I am horribly colorblind (my wife has to match my cloths for me so I don't go out in public looking silly) so I can't comment on the coloring...
I do have to agree with Marko though, I don't think I like it so centered and the bright spots in the background are distracting. In fact the tulip doesn't really look like it belongs there. I think part of the problem for me at least is the stem. The way the stem is in front of the small border around the photo almost makes it look like the background was "dropped" in. But then again as I look at it while re-reading my post... Maybe I do like the stem like that... I just can't decide.
But it is a great capture, there certainly is nothing wrong with it, I think its more a case of personal taste than anything.
