Went for a short nature walk yesterday afternoon and came up with these. Please comment and let me know what you like or what I could be doing differently!

These are good attempts. Birds are hard to shoot because they are weary of humans and so you can't get too close.
If possible always try to focus on the eyes and get as close as you can or the largest zoom lens that you can afford.

Your best bird shot IMO is the black bird on the branch....but the birds face is too dark and could have used more fill flash.

The turtle shot is really nice but I would have cropped it more for a more interesting composition. Maybe cropped 1.5 inches off the right side and the top.

    Keep on shooting!

As well as getting the eyes, shots of animals are best done from a camera position level with the animal. The colourful bird on the cement would have been better from a lower camera angle.

If you like to shoot birds and animals, you should also learn how to postprocess to bring up detail in feathers and eye areas.
