Both are GREAT portraits.
Only thing I may change on #1 is I would burn (lighten) his face a 1/2 exposure or so. The gold light on this image is amazing.
The composition on #2 is a little off IMO. His head is too close to the top of the image. His expression is great.

These are really strong portraits. The light in the first shot is terrific.
Like the comment I made in your other post, the posing is really good too. Is is directed or natural?
