OK, it is official, #2 wins (I posted these images on several forums and most said #2). I actually like #1 better but for a reason y'all don't know about. These images are not mine, they are Maddy's (my 11 year old daughter). She is in a photo contest again this year with the BETA Club. With #1, it was all her, she saw the scene and grabbed it all by herself. In #2, I pointed out the scene, told her to take several angles (from behind the artist, etc). She did the editing on both (with a little instruction from me).
I am hoping they let her enter both images, since there are two categories, BW & color.
She took 2nd place in state last year with this image

Cool that you are sharing your passion for photography with your daughter! Encourage kids early I say!

It was funny to see the reactions on people's faces as she walked around New Orleans. Most people had camera phones, or basic DSLR's, and here she is with $2500+ in camera equipment hanging around neck. She used a simple Canon T1i with a 24-70 2.8 ans a 430 EXii speedlite.

For some stupid reason, the images have to be 8x10 instead of 8x12 (like most cameras take), so here are the final products. I guess that is what happens when non-photographers set the rules

Beta 1 great shot Chris. I would crop it just above knee to remove bright distraction from my eyes. Just a thought. I love the shot.
