Nice. It reminds me of a lot of the older buildings in my city... I'll have to share when I get back home.

Film!? What the heck is that stuff?

I kid, I used to shoot a 35mm Canon TX-1 film camera. Part of me misses the old beast but part of me never wants to go back. I'll feel better when I get my DSLR and move up from just a point and shoot.

Nice; I'd like to see the "forehead" area burned in a bit, and perhaps a bit more contrast in the final print, but an interesting capture nonetheless.

Cool old door handle but what a boring composition you chose. You have sooo much better compositions in your arsenal. Impressive compositions.

This one would have been better taken from the side more to show the way it protrudes from the door and catching more 3D and texture I think.

Also it has eyes and you missed the focus on them.

Can I re-shoot in digital? It’s been so long since I loaded film that I had forgotten what it was like. No focus lock on that old K1000, and every time I released the shutter the first thing I did was tilt the body forward to chimp the display that wasn’t there. Weird feeling.

One thing people can be assured of ... I will say I like a photo if I really don't. And if they have asked my opinion then I'll give it to them straight.

But I do ask that people understand my opinion is just that ... my opinion ... and obviously biased to everything that is me.

I don’t think I like C-41’s results that much, but when I drop it off at the counter I can pick up the negatives in about 10 minutes. It takes a few days to get T-Max done at our local shop. Just another example of being spoiled by digital.

Well I personally like this angle better. It jumps out off the door much more now and gives me a sence of it's depth and even the weight of the ring.
Whether the composition could be still improved by leaving more negative space somewhere etc is hard to say from these photos.

I know what you mean about the negative space, but it’s a rather cramped doorway. There’s actually two doors within it each having one of these figures on them. Plenty of room above and below, but to allow any more space on either side would mean having some of the framework included which didn’t appeal to me very much at all.

Anyway, did the best I could while standing in the rain. Thanks for pushing me to improve. I expect I’ll return until I’ve nailed it.

Yeh, that's what I meant by hard to tell if there was room for improvement in the composition ... I can't see what you could ... like the narrow doorway.

When you go back ... maybe take a bright flashlight and shoot it in low light ... you might get some cool shadow effects with that subject.
