    Default Approaching storm

Well there comes a time when one has to post their first photo into the critique area. (it won't be the last - I think I have tough skin )

Every photo I've looked at posting I can see reasons why I should not, oh well, this is what the forum is about, learning and improving.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this photo and for your comments.

Nicely done. I think though, the image would have benefitted from the use of a CPOL to reduce the reflection on the water and increase saturation.

Nice shot Greg. About all I'll add is a bit of dodging to show more detail on the dark bits of the boats might have helped.

Thanks for the feedback Tirediron. I'm not sure of the term CPOL. From your description of what it does I'm guessing that it might be a polarising filter of some sort

Mad Aussie. I'm not really good at post processing yet, but I'll give your suggestion a go and post the results later in the week. Thanks for the feedback.

I like this shot - what a great sky and ominous mood!

Did you try any other variations on the composition? It might have been nice to fous on just one boat. Still, I really like this one.

I too like it - would like to have seen the boat with the red detail to it placed in a third, though. how about taking it into pp and use curves and levels to get basic fixes - you would be surprise what those tow things can do to give a bit of a boost to an image.

Thanks everyone for taking the time to look and comment. I'll try some PP on the weekend and try some of the ideas. My PP skills are pretty basic but I'll give them a go.

Marko, I did get a shot cropped into one of the boats, but because of the angle I could not get the storm in. I have to head off to work now, but I'll try to post the other one tonight.

    thanks
