This is a slightly photoshopped photo of my son when he was just a little fella. I took this using my Canon AE-1, and probably 400 ISO film, but beyond that I can't remember the particulars. Let me know what you think...

I guess it depends how critical you want someone to be here.
It's a cute shot for sure. He has lovely huge eyes!!
The application of the filter makes it lean towards being more of a painting with that canvas look than a photo now.
The left side of the boys jersey and face are a bit blown out so perhaps some burning could be beneficial there.
He has a strong shadow under the left side of his cheek which is a bit harsh.
I can see by the highlights in his eyes the only light here was a large window ... a reflector might have helped reduce that but I'm sure just getting him still enough for a shot was a mission without setting up extra lighting aids
I love the baby's expression!
Tend to agree with MA on the rest of the cc.
Thanks!
I agree with you about the need for some sort of fill-in lighting. I didn't have a flash at the time, and never even thought of using a reflector. I've got lots of otherwise cute pictures, but lighting has always been my kryptonite. I still like the shot though, shadows and all. It's imperfect...just like the real life it was taken in.
what a cute baby - theres no doubt about that! i would have only one complaint, and that would be the background. its too cluttered to make the capture anything other than a snapshot... that could easily be corrected with some post-processing though. i like the soft shadows on his cheek and the wetness of his sweet baby lips. a little crop off the left hand side would help too.
also, is the grain from the film or from the scanning or from a filter?
Man I keep looking at those gorgeous eyes! They are HUGE! That kid must be able to see an M&M at 1000 metres in pitch dark! Very cute.
Is he loosing those big eyes quickly as he grows up?
Imagine guys if we kept our baby looks our whole lives ... I'd still be a hit with all the girls 40 yrs on!
