The texture is good here, I agree.
But imo, the texture alone is not enough to carry these images.
Shot 1 has distractions for me and shot 2 needs other elements to strengthen its story.

The texture is what first popped out to me.
I do have to agree with Marko's comment on there being no story, but good news is now I have an idea...

Cool pot/subject indeed.
I like the first one as is ... but do agree it could be a stronger image as per Marko's comment. Had you stepped just a little to your left and turned a bit to your right you could have eliminated those colour distractions I think.
