An interesting mood here, I like it. My main comment would be that half the photo looks pure black to me so why not crop away that half of the photo?

I like it, but I feel it would have more impact is the lamp was specifically illuminating a definite subject...
I agree with Ben ... nice photo but needs cropping in a bit more or taking with a longer (more zoomed in) focal length.
I would have probably darkened that bit of light to the 11 o clock of the lamp shade to make it look more like all the light was shining downward, but that's just me.
