More Through the Windshield

I really dig shots made with deliberate camera movement. Those shared with us by Marko are wonderful and Mr. Orton is producing some fabulous stuff as well.

Bear with me, here. A couple of years back I posted some shots in this thread that I got while sitting in my truck on Broad St. in Augusta while it rained. I liked them. In fact, I liked them well enough to give it another shot. I'm wondering, though. Do they work in a fashion similar to camera movement and do they work well enough to spend time looking for better scenes? Funny how a good parking space can influence something like this.

Very cool stuff, I have a few like this myself, there's something about the blurriness created by water on glass that I like.

Just looking at the picture first, without reading your text, I kind of liked it and thought it colorful and pretty, like looking through a soaked windshield. But then I read the text and looking again, could see the family, and the photo took on a whole new meaning. Family Coming Out of The Soy Noodle House creates a story in my mind. Charming.

I like the almost bokeh like effect with the blur, however there might just be too much blur for me. I know what the image is supposed to be because you stated the subject. But if I did not know what the subject was, I might be a little confused. I could likely relate more if there was slightly more detail. Seeing how the lights really scream colour but the (subject) people are somewhat dimmly lit kind of gets me off balance and distracted a little if you know what I mean. If you get the chance again, try to shoot a neon sign or something that will stand out more as the subject. Nice effort though, you gave it some thought and created art, kudos!

The mistake I made was leaving home without first sitting down to look over the meta data in the older files from a couple years ago. Poor lens choice this time around, I'm afraid.

I like this BF and I too have shot through glass (and recorded an old podcast on it) to achieve a painterly effect...Basically I love painterly looks....Some of these do look a bit like ICM.
When I printed BW - i hand painted some of the photographs. I liked the painterly effect that much.
In the end you'll find that all of these techniques take a lot of time until you get better at seeing what works and what does not. I recommend a few hours of practice each week.

Exactly the way I first saw the image then read the words. I really liked the image as an abstract, and like it even more now I see the family.
