I just recently got a 50mm 1.4 lense and having fun shooting.
Photoshop is way above me so this is the best I can do for black and white coloring..
Are shots this close effective to see (as of course it's my own kid so it is for me lol)....?

lovely!
I like this one too.
A couple of comments -
1 - The shot has a slight blue cast
2 - The eyelash OR the bubbles could be sharper
3 - Cheek and nose are a bit too bright
4 - whatever the hand is resting on is a distraction
Despite all of this, I like the shot and am only pointing out areas to improve.
Hope that helps

Thank you!
Can you just make the bubbles sharper? Would that be photoshop? And what process?
Ha ha..he was sleeping with his toy car..can't get that away if I tried!!! lol..
Great shot!
I think Marko mostly meant in camera. but yes, you can selectively sharpen things in Photoshop. The easy way is to duplicate the layer, sharpen the whole layer to taste, add a layer mask to hide the layer, then use a brush on the mask to reveal the sharp layer where the bubbles are.
Sounds complicated, but is actually a really simple procedure.
Too bright IMO but a great shot.
I agree about it being too bright, but it's cute nonetheless!
Well..I can change the brightness (I used a filter in photoshop so back to the original) but the cuteness..now that I can't change
Thanks!
