I am looking for some critique on this image. I have been a long time troller of this forum and have finally decided to post one of my images for critique. Thank you for your feedback in advance.

I'll be honest; I'm not sure how I feel about this image. Technically, it's fine. The deep shadows and under-exposure (Which I assume were intentional) work, but I think something to do with the dark figure standing next to the bright pillar is bothering my eye.

Agreed. Also, I'm not sure what the subject of the image is. The guy is not really in a power position in the photo, there is nothing leading to him. But if the focus is the repeating structures of the wall (which is quite nice) then the guy just takes away from this and confuses the issue.

Bottom line, there are things I like about it, but the intention seems confused - I don't have a clear message of focus, and thus the image is not satisfying.

I like the textures of the wall and pavements though...

I agree with the posts thus far; I'd lust like to add that I think I understand the intent here (mysteriousness, possibly danger) based on the title.

The silhouette of the man is not defined enough for my taste as it is muted by the dark railing, so it is taking away from from your intent IMO.

I would have much preferred he be closer to the camera...everything else (exposure, composition, mood, the walkway,,,)works well for me.

I like it. Perhaps you could increase the contrast between the shape of the person and the background. The way he blends into the background can sometimes look great, but not in this picture.

Thank you all for your comments. I was taking a picture in another direction when out of the corner of my eye and spotted this person who was walking behind me. Luckily for me this area is local so I will be able to go back and try to capture everything with a more dedicated eye.
