Default More elaborate light painting - "orb"

my first attempt at a light painting "orb". I attached a LED light onto a piece of string and swung it in a circle, rotating the circle a few degrees each time.

Unfortunately, sometimes I lost track of the center of the sphere - hence the slightly sloppy lines. Anyone have a better way of doing this??

Really cool play. I remember seeing a video about some fellow in Australia (I think) who was doing these and as I remember that was his method as well. I like your results.... very cool.

Thanks! I did find a tutorial online - This kind of thing is fun because it's not weather dependent (waiting for nice looking clouds, etc...). Just need some dark spots!

Nice play. You may have lost track of the centre but it worked out really well. They look like nicely shaped spheres to me.

My mistake has been seeking new landscapes. I should have been seeking new light.

I believe they are referred to as Physiograms. I messed around with them a few years ago and posted some of them on the site.

I taped the end of the string to the ceiling in a pitch dark room and set the light in motion above the open shutter. (the camera should be laying on it's back, lens pointing up)

scorpio: I used an LED flashlight. The only drawback is that light is directional, so the back of the "sphere" is not lit very well.

barefoot: thanks for pointing out the name. I created some too - I'll try to find some on my other hard drive and post it...
