More elaborate light painting - "orb"

my first attempt at a light painting "orb". I attached a LED light onto a piece of string and swung it in a circle, rotating the circle a few degrees each time.

Unfortunately, sometimes I lost track of the center of the sphere - hence the slightly sloppy lines. Anyone have a better way of doing this??
