This is a discussion on No Picnic At Agate Beach within the Critiques forums, part of the Photography & Fine art photography category; It least this one has a sky anyway. Please tell me what's right and what isn't....
I'm no pro, but I think there's too many trees off to the left, and they're really dark. The darkness of the trees sort of detracts from the nice colors in the rest of the frame. On the positive site it's an interesting shot with the tables against the shore.
great exposure control on the whites!! well done! I agree that you could probably lose some of the trees on the left but I am unsure how much because I like the peek of blue through the trunks. I think you could lose some of the sky above the cloud though

A painter takes their vision and makes it a reality. A photographer takes reality and makes it their vision.
I liked this shot right off the bat because the version my mind is used to would have been shot on a warm summers day but you pull it off in winter It seems to me though that the breaking waves are a tad blown out but anymore darkness in the trees would have been way worse. Overall I really like this image.
I like the leading lines and I like the composition. A tad blown out with the waves. I's a strong image with contrast between the snow and the water. Well done

My mistake has been seeking new landscapes. I should have been seeking new light.
