Opera House

Thanks to all for the feedback so far, I took this shot of the Opera House from the bridge, I was trying to get the 2 storm cells in the background as well as the Opera House. I think the Opera House is a bit lacklustre and I am not sure how I could have made it stand out a bit more. Would ND filters do the job?

Here are my :
I like the composition of this shot- it shows the context of the opera house and gives the viewer a view of Sydney as well.
However, on my monitor the opera house is dark while the sky is very bright. I would try the following:
1. crop to show less sky
2. dodge the opera house to make it brighter, otherwise the eye travels over it to get to the bright spots
3. play with the curves to make a greater difference -right now it's a bit muddy.

I think that this shot has tons of potential!

If your camera has the capability to shoot in black and white add some red or orange filtering to get a much better effect separating the clouds. The opera house is in the shade of a cloud while the housing in the right rear and the clouds are in the sun. Exposing for the opera centre would have blown out the clouds. You'd have had to wait until it was all lit consistently or use a graduated filter to get the shot balanced. Once the photo has already been taken, with the difference in light here, you'd need to follow Bambi's suggestion to make the foreground stand out more. Plan ahead and give it a try again. Shoot in mono and play with the filters. You might like the results better.

I am no expert on this but if it were mine, I would crop it much tighter, bring up your horizon to about the one third mark. Use levels to bring up the opera house somewhat, and bring up the sky a bit more. A bit of play here, hope you do not mind to show you what I mean:

Thanks for the feedback again, I will try again the next time in Sydney some of the suggestions. I haven't done too much in B&W with filters but I will give it a go, I also intend to get some graduated filters shortly as well so I will give them a try to see what comes out.
