    Default Cathedral Part Two

I went back to the same Dunsmuir Cathedral yesturday to test out the nifty fifty I just picked up for a great price! I forgot the services would be in full force and couldnt duplicate the same shot as I posted before.

I started to wonder aimlessly as I usual do with my camera not knowing what I really want to shoot. Then I came across this smaller statue on the side of the building and stopped. It was completely surrounded by a chain link fence and I thought it was ironic since I think of religion being "peaceful" and to offer "freedom"

Could someone of the Catholic faith let me know who this statue is meant to represent? Thanks

I am thinking that this is St. Francis of Assissi- patron saint of animals and the environment. He founded the Franciscans.

Thanks for helping me figure out the statues name.

    Any critiques here, please?

no problem: here are my 2:

I can totally see what drew you to the subject. A stature protected by a fence seems contrary to what St. Francis stood for. The sharpness is good as is the clarity.
However, I think a vertical crop with the whole statue would be more powerful. I would also fiddle with the curves to get more contrast.

Do you have other photos of it?

The versicle shots I took of this were not in focus at the time. I only got a couple shots with the vertical positions and decided to try horizontal. Thx

yeah, been there, done that! It's hard to get both the fence and the statue in focus and you did a good job on that. When I shoot I sometimes get comments about the fact that I take two of everything. But I find that it helps prevent losing a shot. And I can always delete

I normally do take a few shots of a subject if possible. When I shot this I just ficked up a nifty fifty and was not used to the settings and manual focus... I really like how crisp the shot it tho. The prime lens sure beats the lame kit lens I don't use to much anymore!

When I shot this I wanted it to provoke and engage conversation.
