My mistake has been seeking new landscapes. I should have been seeking new light.
I think this image might work better if more of the building was included. As-is, it appears to be a picture of a flag. I think, looking at the bit of building I can see around it, that it might well add significant interest to have more of it. Might also work as a selective colouration.
Yup I'd like to see just a bit more building as well. I still like it though.

is there any way you can resize it and post it larger? i looks like youve got some really nice movement/feel to that flag, but i cant tell with the small image.
and im not sure about the title - "door to freedom" made me think i'll be looking through a doorway... so a flag in the window is surprising.
really nice idea though - i see what youre going for!
