    Default Studio equipment

I need urgent help a friend wants to sell his studio equipment but problem is his not close for me to view the stuff he gave me all the info via email and I need to know whether this price seems right or not. The following is the stuff he want to sell to me for R8000 ( +- $1000) Main bowen power pack. 2 light stands, 1 of which is a manfrotto. 1 umbrella. 1 Softbox. 2x 1000 watt lights. Reflector. Barn doors. Light extentions. Power converter. I have tried to search the internet but problem is I am not sure what sizes the umbrella and the softbox are. I have asked him for sizes and maybe an image for me to view but I am not sure what these stuff sells brand new?
Is this worth while of should I rather invest in new equipment?

My rule of thumb has always been that used stuff should be half price. If it's not, I don't buy. The specs are not clearly written so I don't know what this stuff would cost new.

You could get a wicked brand new set of lights from alien bees with accessories for less than 1000 bucks. (Your friends set may be better....dunno). http://alienbees.com/flash.html
    hope that helps - Marko

main bowen power pack is too vague a term...absolutely need a model #.
It SHOULD be easy to find on the net and it should be clearly written on the power pack. It's all guesswork at this point.

Yes you want all the product and/or model numbers. Then just look online at the prices of the equipment and I agree with Marko, no more than half price at retail value. Also if you can get some idea on what usage it has would be a good idea.

I got my stuff yesterday and opened it, I got 2 Bowens quad matic 2000h lights with stands, umbrella, 1mx1m softbox, the complete power pack for the lights ( which I am not sure how it works) I have tried it yesterday and I plugged my camera into it and all is in good working condition, it is rather old equipment but for the price I cannot complain, if any one knows where I can get an instruction manual on this equipment I will appreciate it, I was on Bowes.co.uk site but I cannot find this power pack. I will start working with it in the new week and see what I can do with it.
