I did, well kind of but my lens was still attached to the Camera

Had just taken my camera off my neck to put it back in the bag, when a bicycle went by and snagged the strap. So not only did the lens go flying my camera went flying as well. The camera and lens fell about 3 feet and ended up about 15 feet from where I was standing, after it hit the ground and rolled along the pavement.
Ran over and picked it up expecting the worse. First I looked at the body and len that was still attach and it looked OK. Actually after, when I had a chance to really inspect it I can find only very minimal scuff marks to the point you have to really inspect it closely to find them. I fingered for sure when I went to take a picture with it I would quickly discover what damage had been done. Place the camera to my eye pressed the shutter button and..... "Click" np auto focused and took the picture. I have taken 1000's of pics since with no problems.

    Camera: Nikon D300
    Lens: AF-S NIKKOR 50MM F/1.4G

So I guess we can place a check mark in the "Anyone care to try this with a Nikon" column

Wow, these things are really built to last, eh? I would have thought for sure there would have been some performance damage!

So I'm not the only moron here

Shame your insurance didn't cover your lens Kat. We specifically checked that ours did cover 'stupidity'

We'll at least we know that Nikkor/Nikon and Canon lenses will take a lickin and keep on tickin

Shot a few photos with lens this morning (see the Monthly Assignment) and all seems well.
