This is a fairly well balanced piece on these two cameras, since they have had both for several months the review of the cameras is a bit more balanced than some I have read.

I think the comparison on the 5D II and the D700 is pretty mute. If you are walking out of the street with no DSLR then the 5D II looks better on paper.
IF you already shoot, then you are probably going with the side your glass is on -- and that is what really matters. Nikon glass is better. I like Nikon.
I would probably get the 5D II if I was only looking at the two camera bodies on paper. I have Nikon glass. The d700 and the 5D II are both awesome cameras but they will not outlive the glass. Instead of having a camera conversation - let's talk about the glass.
Both cameras perform better than I do. Therefore I'll happily take either (I'm not picky!), should the forum members team up and organise a collection for me... *hint*

Ah well, worth a shot...
Nikon, Canon both make "Good Glass". I think the whole what camera or glass is better in moot. When I went from film to digital I read a lot but more importantly went to the stores several times to see what felt right in my hand, the Nikon has better glass is purely a personal opinion. I shoot Canon because their camera balanced and fit better in my hand for how I shoot.
It could have said Nikon knocked the Canon out the park, I am not going to a Nikon camera, I have too much invested in Canon glass. I think if you go with any Major camera company you will be happy with the very personal choice you decided to go with. This was just for interest for maybe someone who doesn't as the article states have a huge investment in either of the companies glass, just stick with the system you have.
