Ok. Has this thing officially launched? I have already paid for mine and it still says backordered but I also see everywhere that it is not released yet.
Anyone know for sure?

Hmm..I have a 50 mm 1.4G
Not to sure if it's the same thing or not..got it in Oct...
Good luck!
It's now listed on Nikon canada's website so it should be making it's way around.
kat - sure yours isn't 50mm 1.4d? I don't think the 1.4G wasn't introduced until photokina
Midforge - aside from AFS i haven't read much about any IQ difference from the new one to the old one..
Have you looked at the bulky Sigma 50mm 1.4 (72mm size)? I think this one's a rare case of outperform the Nikkors on the MTF charts...
just throwing it out there cause your waiting on the back order..........

The Sigma 50mm 1.4 HSM is a great lens.
Across the board this 50mm 1.4g has been rated as the top lens in its class. I think it has a 9.5 out of 10 on SLRgear.com. I really like to use SLRGear.com because they don't just rate something - they run it through a battery of testing. I think it is the highest lens I have ever seen rated minus the high end $5,000+ zooms.
I am going to check out the Sigma 50mm 1.4 HSM though. Thanks.
Ha ha..yah I meant I had the 50mm 1.4d
Great lens..although I find it hard to use on my kids as the just move to fast for me to manual focus it...
check out the mtf's though

I looked at a list of identical shots made with each with the same crops. About a half dozen images or so and the Nikkor G-lens outperformed that sigma every time in image quality.
