I'be got kenko brand ones for my canon. If you go to my flickr stream you'll find some macros that were shot wit these rings.

The only problem I've ever had, was leaving a ring on and then my wife taking the camera to try take some shots of our boy getting an award. Fortunately she did a few practice shots before the actual presentation and called me cause the camera would not focus and I worked it out over the phone

I've used both tubes and close up filters and they do get the job done - though they are much harder to use versus a dedicated macro lens.
