Check out the sharpness info on this testing of the lens, I've used the info on this site to help make some buying decisions in the past

A couple of websites I have found helpful are Fred Miranda for some hands on user opinions and dpreview for some more in depth tech info.
I have that lens and shot almost my whole vacation to Bermuda with it. The pillows shot, the ship shot to the bow and the interior shot that I've recently posted in the B&W picture thread. Check them out. I think I posted a band shot as well.
It's a wonderful lens and your f-stop depends on what your composition is or what it is you want it to be. Look on my deviant site too and look at some of the Big Ben shots.
