    Yeh I've seen samples like this before. I never use a filter on my 10-22 because of vignetting and don't really worry about scratches because of this type of page.

    Back in the 'old days' you'd get people painting black paint over deeper scratches on their lens to avoid the possibility of flare off the edges of the scratch. The theory was that the paint would usually not be noticeable but the flare would. I've tried it myself with a bit of post-it note stuck to the front element and couldn't see anything in the final photo.
