I like the bw, the light and the comp overall but it is missing intimacy/connection - you aren't revealing much about yourself due to your distance from the camera and not looking toward us.....

I too like the light and B&W aspects. It makes me/you feel distant but maybe that's what you wanted. I would like it better without the signs... crop it just below them and it works better for me.
I'm afraid I have to disagree a bit. (Hopefully it's not because I've been away from this a while). I actually like the distance and being engrossed in the book. As for Iggy's comment I don't mind the signs (except for maybe the lighter one on the top right. I find the darkness at the bottom does nothing for the picture, so I would cropa bit of that off. Not sure if that helps, hopefully it does.
